About
Analog Recording
Creative Caffeine Studio still does the analog thing. Why? Because we want to.
OK, we admit that we love our Pro-Tools HD system, but when our in-house producers …. well …. produce, they typically make use of both formats in a hybrid mixture process that tracks the important rhythm session to analog, converts that signal to digital through the Apogee converters, and lands those tracks onto Pro-Tools in a much faster process than your Grandmother or your non-analog-trained engineer friend warned you about. Our engineers are so quick with this process that the minimal, extra, extremely well-spent time is negligible.
Direct-to-digital is a quick, down and dirty process that convenience freaks like but …. come on, admit it …. it can be kinda harsh, characterless, and fatiguing. And when A-B’d to analog, 4 out of 5 doctors of songology choose analog. That’s the facts, folks.
Your songs are your children. Your creations. And we don’t look at your children as “product”. Give your children a chance to live big. Try analog.
Stress Busting, Warm and Comfortable Atmosphere
We have gone to great lengths to ensure your comfort at Creative Caffeine.
The first thing many say when seeing (and smelling) our all-wood main tracking room
is “man, I wanna live here”. It looks like it should be high in the mountains with its log walls, vaulted ceiling, and expansive areas of glass, and its recording acoustics are as close to perfect as they come. Many of the world’s top drummers and engineers have exclaimed to us that it’s one of the best live rooms they’ve ever recorded in.
Some have described our outstanding kitchen as “upscale Starbucks”. It features cabinets and paneling built of highest-grade hand-finished maple, spot lighting, real limestone floor, granite countertops, and a wall full of antique coffee collectibles. The coffee beans for each cup dispensed by our super-automatic espresso/coffee machine are ground and tamped individually, and the machine lets you choose the strength you want each time with the touch of a single button. Our refrigerator is kept stocked with beverages for every palette, and meals can be chef-prepared in the kitchen if you desire, or we can arrange for catering or delivery.
Our castle stone lounge area wouldn’t look out of place in Tuscany and provides a calming, relaxing place for you to hang out between takes and sip on your drink while watching DVDs on our built-in flat-screen TV.
Let us know in advance your exact needs during the time you plan to be at Creative Caffeine and we’ll make every effort to have those needs accounted for when you show up.
Vintage Microphones
Simply put… mics matter! Creative Caffeine has a purpose-built collection of vintage and contemporary mics to make your project stand out above the rest. From a matched pair of vintage Neumann U87s, modified by the well-known late mic guru Fred Cameron, to a very early and sweet-sounding Telefunken U47 with its original factory tube, diaphragm, and capsule, you will find our collection of mics hard to beat among Nashville studios. Combine those with one of the best tracking rooms in town and you’re living the project you’ve been dreaming of.
The Only Nashville Recording Studio with a Treehouse Overlooking a Scenic Creek.
Actually, it’s possible Creative Caffeine is the only studio in the US that can boast the line above! Just finished last fall is a large, wood, partially-covered deck built around a giant tree with a “crows nest” for writing that is waaaaaay up there, and overlooks scenic Brown’s Creek. Relax, write your songs in peace while watching the great blue herons and snapping turtles, and get inspired by nature. We welcome all writers to come and write their next hit in the “crows nest” or down on the stone-floored patio next to the creek. You’re not obligated to use our studio in the least…. just come unannounced and relax!
